If you choose not to provide the required personal information about yourself, we will not be able to verify your member account or grant you full access to all areas of our communities, or possibly deny access all together. Our communities include a secure, private Forum forum that can only be accessed by verified members working in the dental industry. Your user name is not considered personal information and you will have the ability to show only your user name on the Forum forums and remain anonymous if you choose so. You can change or review your personal information by clicking on the My Profile tab located in the blue bar across the top of any page.
b. Information from use of our services. Anonymous information is collected for every visitor to our Website. This includes:
Device or System Information such as hardware model, operating system, device identifiers, browser type.
Use information such as pages viewed, date and time, IP numbers are used to determine domain type and in some cases, geographic region in order to identify sponsor for your area and statistical info. We do not make any association between this information and a visitor’s identity.
2. How we use info
a. To provide services you request. We will use personal information provided by you with the intent for which it is given to us. For example, to respond to a request for further info, or to have a sponsor contact you at your request. It also may be used by us, for transmission of newsletters and advertisements in which you may be interested, if you opt-in to receive such info, and for such other purposes that are disclosed at the time the information is given. If you receive information that you do not wish to receive, please contact us or follow the instructions for removing your name from the circulation or distribution list for that item.
b. To communicate with you. You may receive communications from us regarding other programs and special offerings if you have affirmatively opted-in. We provide a link in all of our communication to opt-out if you so choose.
c. For other purposes. We reserve the right to use, without personal information, any information that you post in forums, comments or adverttsing.

3. How we store and protect info
We may store any information you submit through the Website. Your information may be stored and processed by us in the country of our choosing. You are prohibited from violating or attempting to violate security for or otherwise interfering with the operation of the Website. 4. Information we share
If you have elected to receive information from our third-party sponsors or if you purchase educational offerings provided by third-parties, we provide your personal information to such third parties so that they can provide the information you have requested and may communicate with you directly. Use of information by those third parties is governed by their privacy policies and we do not control or are responsible for their use and protection of your personal information.
Northstar’s policy is that our Website may be used only by users who are over the age of 18 and use of portions of the Website that require an account and you to log in are intended for and restricted to those working in the dental industry. We do not intentionally collect any information from children or users that we have reason to believe are under the age of 18. However, if a parent learns that a child has submitted personal information to our website, the parent should contact us and that information will be deleted.
6. Access or Change to personal information

Our communities are mainly dedicated to those working in the dental industry and dental professionals. However, they are also open to consumers who have an interest in dentristy.
For this reason, we create almost a mirror copy of our forums, one restricted to professionals , one open to any verified member who may also be a consumer.
What is posted on one will not be automatically included in the other. If you do not want your postings to be visible to a consumer audience, you must post only
in the Professionals forum, Otherwise you may choose to post in the General Consumer forum.;

to know about a service you perform or an expertise you have, you will want it in the General Consumer forum.
When we receive an e-mail, we make reasonable efforts to respond in as timely a manner as possible but Northstar does not guarantee that it will respond to all inquiries. We reserve the right to ignore or delete any information including, without limitation, information that is fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, and obscene or in violation of a copyright, trademark or other intellectual property or ownership right of any other person. You should be aware of the general risks of transmitting information over the Internet. The “Golden Rule” for the Forum is to respect others. this forum includes members of all ages and backgrounds. Focus on the subject matter not the person. This is a place to share info, ideas and thoughts. If you have problems with a member, a questionable post or picture, please report the problem either by sending a PM to the administrator, administrator, or the Forum manager, or by using the “Report Abuse” link found at the bottom of every post. We will try to handle these matters in a timely manner. Failure to follow this procedure may result in termination of your account as determined by Northstar, in its sole discretion.
Any posts, including pictures, avatars, and signatures that violate the rules can either be edited or deleted at the administrator’s discretion with or without a warning.
Any political or religious posts or threads can be removed from these forums if we do not consider them germane to the forum’s content.Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.
Unauthorized copyrighted material.
Threads that are started and then turned into bashing, name calling and racial slurs will have the whole thread deleted. Anyone who posts anything of a racist nature will be banned from Intraoral-scanners.com.
Members are allowed to copy an images posted by another member if copied within the same thread and used as a tool when contributing to the discussion. However, copying other members’ images from one thread into another thread is not allowed FOR ANY REASON without the permission of the member who originally posted them. Copying other members’ images for the sole purpose of demeaning (flaming) that person, or with malicious intent to degrade that member, or degrading the work depicted in said photo or x-ray is strictly prohibited. If we receive notification of a member violating this rule, the post containing the copied photos or x-rays will be deleted immediately, and this action could result in permanent banning.

The Forums provide a forum for dental professionals to communicate amongst their peers and customer base. We do not allow egregious promotion of dental products and/or services in the forums. This is detrimental to our communities and to those who consult these boards for a variety of reasons. Northstar wishes to keep membership free for all dental professionals. To do so it relies on active user paticipation, and advertising fees from legitimate vendors.
Consequently we do not allow the forums to be misused for free promotional advertising. Forum content is prescreened and violating submissions will be rejected. We are not
under the obligation to notify you of this rejection, though we attempt to do so.
As a courtesy to all Members, the signature area can be used within reason, for contact information or to promote your company/product however there will be NO advertising or posting of prices or “specific deal for Members” in this signature area.
What work’s best for members who have something to sell or a website to promote is to contribute to the Forum with valuable insights and frequency .
By establishing your ‘brand’ worth, other community members may choose to follow your header links and do business with you.
Threads started with the intent of selling, introducing, or talking about one’s own product, company, or service will be removed. Posts interjected into existing threads for the same purpose will be removed. This being said, we do not want to stifle the flow of good info, so if members pose a question about a product, company, or service, then of course answers may be posted (within reason). Sometimes this ia a fine line between self-promotion and valuable insight. The decision of the administrators is final and their forum decisions will be binding. If you disagree contact the administration through email or private message.
Within the body of a post, links are permitted for educational purposes such as to scientific articles, an educational blog, or product information that is being requested. We wish to keep the Intraoral-scanners.com, so we ask that you not link to blog posts held on facebook or yahoo or other discussion boards. One can put also put links to one’s website or blog in the signature area.
Administrators that see posts made on the Forum by members selling product or service that do not directly add value to the discussion will be removed.
Members may not post on the Intraoral-scanners.com Forum asking for members to give them a positive review on any social media platform or website.
Members may rate and post negative or positive reviews about a product or company, however such postings must reveal the posting members afilliation or interest
in that company or product, be it a competitor, an associated company or an owner. It should contain enough information in the posting for other members to
identify any implied bias and to verify the facts for themselves.
The following would be permitted:
“scanner XYZ performed very poorly, resulting in over a half dozen inaccurate impressions over a month’s period that were unusable by the lab, and wasted time and money. We bought the scanner XYZ on June 2020 for our dental practice Johnson Dentistry from ABC Corp, and underwent a 3 day training course from
ABC Corp on proper user of the scanner. The impressions were rejected by our lab , XYZ labs of Wilmington Delaware”.
This post clearly identifies companies or individuals and allows the administrator to verify the accuracy of the claim. It would be allowed.
The following would be rejected, EVEN IF IT CORRESPONDED TO THE SAME UNDERLYING FACTS.

The posting simply is not detailed enough to verify bias or accuracy. It will automatically be removed by our administrators.
The Personal Message system is not to be used to solicit business from other members. Unsolicited messaging to our members is in violation of our terms andl result in dismissal of a membership. Employment ads are permitted, but
only in the classified ad section for employment.
Similary, postings to buy or sell used technology may be posted, but it MUST be within our classified ads section .
These ads are currently free, however we may eventually charge for those postings in the future.
The same applies to our upcoming Continuing Education. However, for the same reasons as listed above we have guidelines for our CE contributors.
1. Any information about CE must ONLY be posted in the CE forum. Not in other forums. They will be deleted if posted elsewhere.
2. The CE postings are for ADA and/or AGD accredited CE only. Anything else will be deleted. One may have links to non-accredited “CE” in one’s signature area.
3. Only one CE thread per lecturer or group of lecturers that are associated with each other. Multiple threads will be deleted.
4. CE threads may only have new posts added to it by the lecturer or anyone associated with the CE program, once a week. No daily “bumps”. However, if someone asks a question to the lecturer or anyone associated with the lecture in the CE thread, it may be answered even if they already posted on that thread earlier that week or even day.
5. Books and DVDs are not for CE credit thus they are not to be posted about in the CE forum. And if posted in other forums that you have a book or DVD for sale, it is considered spam or self-promotion and will be deleted. Please contact the sales department about affordable and effective advertising. You may also have mention of books and DVDs in one’s signature area.
6. Podcasts are not CE and should not be posted in the CE forum. Podcasts may be posted in any other forum. BUT they have to be embedded into the post so it is Intraoral-scanners.com Content. Either a You Tube embed or some other embed. If a link to an outside podcast is given, the post (thread) will be deleted. The podcast must be educational. Not promotional for one’s services or products or it will be deleted. One may have an outside link to a podcast in the signature area.
7. Prices for anything posted in the title of the thread will have the thread deleted.
8. Violators of the above will be notified why their post or thread was deleted. Repeat violators will have their account to Intraoral-scanners.com inactivated.
We appreciate participation from all dental professionals on the Forums. When one’s feedback includes products or services that one sells or has a financial interest in either directly or indirectly, please make this clear in the body of your post or signature area. If your comments pertain to products or services that you do not sell or have any financial interest in either directly or indirectly, but you do have a financial interest in either directly or indirectly in a competing product or service, this also needs to be clear in the body of your post or signature area.
Below are additional guidelines that all of us need to follow to make this forum a place for all to read, learn from and enjoy. Because of problems inherent to internet Forums, personal attacks, sexual content, sexual avatars and signatures, obscenities, and cussing, it is necessary to address these issues of the Forum.
Forum Etiquette Guidelines:
No personal attacks, threats or name calling on the Forum and in sending private messages and emails.
Sorry, but admins are the next things to Gods on this site. And you don’t argue with Gods.
Members should have a single account. If individuals have multiple accounts, they may be permanent banned from the Forum. Only one person may use a registration. Giving a login and password to someone else to use is strictly forbidden. Giving it so someone that is not a member will lead to permanent banning.
Don’t call people names. It wasn’t permitted in third grade. It won’t be permitted here.
Sorry, sexually explicit images or offensive material in avatars, or elsewhere are not for these forums. We’ll stop them in there tracks. Same for links to such sites.
Try to post in the appropriate forum. Administrators may move your thread or post to the proper forum.
Try not to post multiple threads on the same topic. Don’t post the same post in multiple threads or forums. However , you MAY duplicate a post to both the General Consumer forum and the Professinal forum.
Avoid hijacking a thread by shifing topics. It may result in a deletion of the post.
When you copy and paste news articles or things from other web sites please post the URL, this brings credibility to your post.
Please don’t argue with the administrators. Remember, they’re Gods. And Gods have ways of punishing their critics.
If you disagree with an action taken contact the administration by PM or Email, there’s a way to take that up, via email or private message. Once or twice, not 50 thousand times…
Don’t encourage the trolls. Trolls post messages that are intended to incite fellow members’ furor and cause havoc on the Forum. When trolls are identified their posts may be edited and deleted by the administrators. Egregious patterns of trollinw till result in permanent banning. You may not labe3l another user a “troll”, and doing so may result in your own suspension of service. Administrators should be contacted instead. What you should do instead is to hit the Report Abuse button or PM myself or any administrator and we will take action if needed. We will not permit labelling others as trolls, as it is insulting if inaccurate and can lead to a drop in healthy use of the forums.
Don’t bait another user. Posts made for the sole purpose of eliciting anger in another member or group of members will be removed.
No shouting. Posting in all capital letters is considered shouting.
There is to be no “harassing” of others to answer a question that has been asked of them.
These rules and guidelines have been established in the best interest of all members of the Forum. Thank you to the members who have no problems following the rules and guidelines and do self-moderation.

The Website includes a community Classified Ad section. In order to post an ad in this section you will be required to select a user name and password. In order to edit or delete your ad the user must be logged in with the same account information as when the original ad was posted.

This Agreement constitutes your entire agreement with our website(s) and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications, proposals or agreements, whether oral or written, between us. To comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”), you agree that you will not submit any information or materials containing Protected Health Information (“PHI”). PHI is information or materials relating to an individual’s medical condition or care and from which an individual can be identified. You further agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Northstar and its affiliates and their respective officers, directors, agents and employees from, for and against any claim, demand or cause of action, including payments of reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs arising out of or related to any violation of HIPAA or failure to comply with the terms of this section. If Northstar determines that you have distributed PHI on the Website without de-identifying it as required by HIPAA, it will so notify you and may suspend or terminate your right to access the Website.
